Day 234 – there seems to be a few days between posts

This is the same thing that happened last time although the only difference is that I have still been going to the gym. Some of the other 12 month challenge goals have sadly fallen by the wayside. On the up side, it’s not too late to get back on track.

I have been averaging around 5 days a week at the gym, 6 is the ideal.  I have increased and decreased cardio over the months although I still make sure that I have been getting at least 15 minutes each workout.

I have been tracking my cardio workouts with LF Connect, the results for the year so far are below:

My weight has been sitting between 87 and 89kg which is getting pretty close to my goal weight which has been good. I am going to get back on track with the challenge and the blog – so hopefully you should see some more regular posts!

Days 129 – 151

What have I been doing since the 9 May? Not writing posts for one thing! I have been so busy that I haven’t had time to write even a short post. The shorter days as winter draws near have meant that it is harder to get things done, especially with the renovation in full swing. It feels a bit like groundhog day – the only thing that lets me know it’s not is that it is getting progressively colder and darker in the morning and afternoon.

At the moment my typical weekday consists of:

0440 – wake up

0500 – gym

0615 – arrive home

Get ready for the day and sort out lunches etc

0830 – school drop off

0845 – 1730 – work

1740 – arrive home and assist with getting kids dinner, bathing etc

1930 – kids in bed / cook dinner

2030- eat dinner and put water on to boil to wash the dishes outside

2030 – wash dishes and pack them away.

2100 – get gym clothes ready for next day as well as work clothes

2130 – go to bed…

0440 – repeat

I get to sleep in slightly before going to the gym on Saturday and Sunday but the routine is much the same without having to go to work.

On the plus side, I have still been going to the gym. I have been doing weights four days a week with the occasional extra session on a Saturday depending on how I am going for time. I have been doing cardio 5 or 6 days a week with Wednesday as a rest day still. The image below is the results for cardio since the 9 May until today.

I am definitely feeling fitter than at the beginning of the year although I have a few annoying little injuries which don’t seem to want to go away, such as a sore hip flexor which is good for a week or two and then sore for a week but other than that it’s all good.

The renovation is supposed to be finished in a few weeks and things will be back to normal which will be nice.

The goals I set are in need of review which is something that I will do in the next few days. I’m also going to do my best to get back to posting each day as it was something that I was looking forward to doing for the year.

Day 128

I’m back on track with a single day post. Today was shoulder day and I did all I could. I also did 500 calories of cardio which was made up of 15 minutes each of cross trainer and treadmill!

Days 124 – 127

The combination posts are blowing out in terms of the days that are covered by a post. Again, I have been more active in the gym than I have been in posting. Day 124 was cardio only and I ran 5k and consumed 500 calories on the treadmill.

Day 125 was chest day and it was a good workout.

Day 126 was arm day. I really feel the difference in the workout changing each week cycling through 5 – 6 different workouts for each body part and the returning to week 1. I never seem to get used to the workout for each body part which has been good.

Today, day 127 was a rest day and I was happy to sleep a little longer this morning.

Tomorrow is shoulder day, even after
only one day off I loo forward to getting back to the gym which is a good feeling!

Days 122 & 123

I seem to be destined for combined posts at the moment. Yesterday was back day and I have started a new back program which is similar to what I have been doing for other body parts in that each week there is a different series of exercises. It’s amazing how quickly your body can adapt to the same program. I am feeling the effects of yesterday’s workout and I suspect this will be more pronounced tomorrow.

I had a rest day today as my legs were pretty stiff after running on Thursday and Friday. It was a cardio only day today so I felt ok about not going to the gym. Instead we spent the morning looking for floor and wall tiles for the renovation. It is starting to take shape although it will not be finished for another six or seven weeks – I hope that time goes by quickly, especially now that it is starting to get cold.

I will be back in the gym tomorrow for some cardio!

Days 120 & 121

Yesterday was rest day which didn’t warrant a post in its own right so this doesn’t really count as a combined post – so I say to justify yet another post covering multiple days.

I nearly didn’t make it to the gym this morning as I was playing the dangerous game of “I’ll just close my eyes for five minutes”. Turns out I had them shut for an extra 57 minutes and was close to not going. The shock of the time on the clock have me enough of a start to get going and I’m glad I did. Whenever this happens and I still manage to get the session in helps keep me motivated and avoid the trap of one day off becoming three months if intermittent training.

Today was shoulder day and it was hard work. I combined this with 15 minutes on the cross trainer and the same on the treadmill which resulted in a touch under 500 calories being consumed.

Back day tomorrow and I have a new multi week program so it should be interesting.

Days 118 – 119

Seems like combined posts are becoming a little more common than I had envisaged. Yesterday was chest day with cardio and today was arm day with cardio. I have started to break up the cardio a bit more with some time on both cross trainer and treadmill, it works out to be about the same amount of calories consumed as just doing 30 minutes on the cross trainer.

Rest day tomorrow which I always look forward to. At the end of four days on I start to feel it.
